MSA Accreditation for Innovations in Online Education

INNOVATIONS IN ONLINE EDUCATION, INC  (IOE) was established in 2008 by Laura DeSena, a high school teacher, published authority on preventing plagiarism, and NYU Adjunct Professor.

IOE is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.  IOE seeks to partner with school districts to provide an added dimension to their learning infrastructure, outreaching to embrace the larger community, including parents, in the academic success of students.

IOE is registered and incorporated in the state of New Jersey with offices in Sparta, Sussex County, New Jersey. IOE is a WOSB (woman owned small business) registered in the state of New Jersey, as well as in five other states. IOE is authorized by NJDOE to offer its services to the school districts of New Jersey

IOE provides live virtual instruction, offering full year and semester courses, summer school, and homebound instruction. IOE teachers log in to meet their students in the virtual classroom: lessons are scheduled so students and teachers meet in real time. Because we are online, our pool of highly qualified licensed teachers is not limited to a local regional pool of applicants. We are not canned curricula. Instead, we globalize and humanize the online learning experience. We believe a teacher cannot be replaced by a computer via packaged curricula software. At IOE, content is not delivered for students to wade through alone — instead, we believe it is inspired by the dedication, passion for knowledge, and the modeling of the power of learning to change lives — that is literally embodied in the humanness of our teachers.

Homebound Instruction

The online program has particular application to “students-at-risk.” IOE is able to mainstream these students, who are often isolated in the homebound setting. They join their peers in the virtual classroom and receive instruction from a teacher licensed in the content area. For these students, the social element is no longer compromised. Students collaborate with each other in the live online environment.

Semester and Full Year Courses

Any course(s) the district cannot provide due to budget restrictions or lack of qualified staff, IOE is able to provide online, including all world languages.  We connect the IOE licensed content teacher, via the online platform, to the district’s students, who use the school’s computer lab or a personal laptop to participate in these live virtual courses. It is an exact mirroring of the brick and mortar class dynamic that is enhanced through its migration into a 21st Century environment.

Meeting Stem Objectives with Digital Literacy

Digital literacy is the additional benefit to all IOE students. Students communicate using the 21st Century tools of IOE’s online platform.  IOE teachers use Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 tools in designing content delivery and in creating formative and summative assessments. Students are given an edge with regards to 21st Century career and higher education skills. After the live virtual session, IOE provides students the archived lessons as study artifacts (asynchronous element) to enhance content delivery and allow for review of previous lessons.
